17 surprising jobs where you can earn more than $100,000 a year

Billionaire Ken Langone recently offered some unexpected advice to grads: If you want to make it big in business, don’t go work on Wall Street.

While finance jobs still offer some of the highest wages around, he may be right about one thing — you don’t have to work on Wall Street to earn six figures.

The Dalai Lama on Why Leaders Should Be Mindful, Selfless, and Compassionate

Over the past nearly 60 years, I have engaged with many leaders of governments, companies, and other organizations, and I have observed how our societies have developed and changed. I am happy to share some of my observations in case others may benefit from what I have learned.

Leaders, whatever field they work in, have a strong impact on people’s lives and on how the world develops. We should remember that we are visitors on this planet. We are here for 90 or 100 years at the most. During this time, we should work to leave the world a better place.

Dollar whacked as economic slowdown spreads to U.S. jobs data

NEW YORK (Reuters) – The U.S. dollar index fell on Friday to its lowest since March 26 after the U.S. Department of Labor’s employment report showed that job growth slowed sharply in May and wages rose less than expected.

The weak data suggest that the loss of momentum in economic activity has spread to the labour market, which will further support forecasts that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates this year. Rising expectations of a cut have pulled the dollar 1.2% lower this week.

Airlines Take a Step Toward Garbage-Free Flying

Back in 1972, the United Nations established June 5 as World Environment Day in an effort to raise awareness of the various harmful ways humans affect the planet. This year, air pollution was the theme.

Airlines are keenly aware of their role in damaging the atmosphere, given that they account for about 2% of annual global carbon emissions. So it’s probably not a surprise that, this month, a few of them are showing how they’re trying to shrink their footprint.

GM and Fiat Chrysler Unmasked as Tesla’s Secret Source of Cash

For years, Tesla Inc. has hauled in revenue by selling credits to other carmakers that needed to offset sales of polluting vehicles to U.S. consumers. These sorts of transactions have largely been shrouded in secrecy — until now.

General Motors Co. and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV disclosed to the state of Delaware earlier this year that they reached agreements to buy federal greenhouse gas credits from Tesla. While the filings are light on detail, they haven’t been reported on previously. They also represent the first acknowledgments from carmakers that they’re turning to Tesla for help to comply with intensifying U.S. environmental regulations.

Modi Victory Makes India’s Rupee Double-Edged Sword for RBI

The rupee could be set to gain as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sweeping election victory boosts foreign inflows. That may present a dilemma for India’s central bank, analysts said.

The rupee is emerging Asia’s top performer in the past three months, thanks to the gush of foreign cash. With inflows poised to accelerate after the election result, the Reserve Bank of India may have to rein in the currency or risk making the nation’s exports less competitive as rival currencies weaken.
